Lewis Hamilton’s Aspirations for a Ferrari Collaboration
Back in 2019, when Lewis Hamilton was at the pinnacle of his Formula 1 career with Mercedes, he expressed a keen interest in developing a special edition of the AMG One. However, the project never materialized. Fast forward to today, and the seven-time F1 champion, now driving for Ferrari, is eager to embark on a new venture—creating a road-legal Ferrari. He has even christened it as the “F44.”Honoring the Legacy of the Ferrari F40
Hamilton aims to develop a Ferrari that pays homage to the iconic F40. This task is daunting, given the F40’s legendary status as the last model approved by Enzo Ferrari before his passing in 1988. Hamilton has expressed a desire to design a Ferrari with the “baseline of an F40,” incorporating an actual stick shift, which he plans to work on in the coming years.
Hamilton’s Affinity for Ferrari
It’s no surprise that Hamilton chose the F40 as his muse. His admiration for the car was evident when he posed with it on his first official day at Ferrari in Maranello. Even before joining Ferrari, Hamilton had amassed a formidable collection of Ferrari models, including the 599 GTO and LaFerrari, along with their convertible Aperta versions. Although he doesn’t yet own an F40, his interest is evident.Possibility of an F40 Revival
While Hamilton’s dream might seem like a distant possibility, reports suggest that Ferrari might genuinely consider reviving the F40. Discussions have hinted at the new model potentially joining the exclusive “Icona” series, possibly being based on the older LaFerrari platform rather than the newer F80, and possibly eschewing the hybrid component of its V-12 powertrain.
