Doug Kalitta’s victory at the Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip was more than just a win—it was a powerful reminder of his skill, resilience, and deep connection to the Pomona track. The final round saw Kalitta edge out Brittany Force in a thrilling face-off, solidifying his dominance at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals.

This win was particularly nostalgic for Kalitta, who clinched his first world title at this very location less than two years ago. It was a return to the roots of a championship journey.

A Day of Speed: Record-Breaking Runs and Dramatic Finishes

Originally postponed from Gainesville, the Top Fuel bonus race finally concluded under sunny Californian skies. Kalitta’s Mac Tools dragster delivered a blistering 3.657-second pass at 335.15 mph, outperforming Force’s strong showing.

“It’s been a while since we raced on a Friday, so that was pretty cool,” Kalitta said.
“My team gave me a car that could outrun anyone—even Brittany’s best runs.”

On his way to victory, Kalitta overcame fierce competition from top drivers like Clay Millican and Antron Brown, making this win all the more impressive.

Brittany Force Sets NHRA Record Despite Final Loss

Though Brittany Force fell just short in the final round, her performance was nothing short of historic. She posted a record-breaking 3.646-second run at 334.82 mph, setting the fastest 1/8-mile pass in NHRA history at 301.67 mph with her Monster Energy dragster.

Force, always a fierce contender, remained optimistic despite the loss:

“We had a solid start. This track means a lot to me, and I’m excited for what’s ahead this weekend.”

Her performance once again proved she’s one of the most technically precise and fearless racers in the NHRA circuit.

Ron Capps Returns with Vengeance in Funny Car

Another standout performance came from Ron Capps in the Funny Car category, just days after a massive crash in Phoenix. In a remarkable show of resilience, Capps recorded the quickest run in both sessions, hitting 3.830 seconds at 328.94 mph in his NAPA Auto Care Toyota GR Supra.

“I’m pretty beat up and sore… but I just couldn’t wait for today,” Capps admitted, capturing the emotional grit that defines elite drag racers.

His comeback not only earned him the provisional No. 1 qualifier spot, but also the admiration of fans and fellow competitors alike.

Greg Anderson Breaks Into the 6.40s in Pro Stock

Pro Stock legend Greg Anderson made headlines by becoming the only driver to enter the 6.40s, with a lightning-fast 6.495-second pass at 210.01 mph. This made him the fastest Pro Stock qualifier in NHRA Winternationals history.

Anderson credited his team for the success:

“There’s so many cars that can run fast, and I’m so damn proud of this KB Titan team,” he shared.
“This is a tough field, but we showed what we’re capable of.”

The performance reinforced Anderson’s position as one of the top names in Pro Stock racing today.

What’s Next: More NHRA Action Coming This Weekend

As the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series continues, fans can expect even more high-octane drama. With more qualifying sessions ahead, drivers will have a chance to improve their positions and chase history.

For Kalitta, Force, Capps, and Anderson, the weekend isn’t just about podiums—it’s about pushing the limits of speed, skill, and engineering.

“Drag racing is a sport for those who revel in the thrill of speed and the pursuit of excellence,”
said drag racing legend Don Garlits.
“This weekend at Pomona is a vivid illustration of that ethos.”
