What exactly can we expect from Audi’s new entry-level EV? A few plausible scenarios unfold. Perhaps an upscale version of the Volkswagen ID.3, though with the ID.3 having been in the market for about five years, this may not be the most strategic choice. Alternatively, Audi might draw inspiration from the ID.2all concept. Volkswagen aims to roll out the ID.2 in 2026, with a starting price of approximately €25,000. An Audi counterpart, while pricier, would still significantly undercut the Q4 E-Tron’s €46,150 price tag in Germany.
As the industry speculates on Audi’s next step, it’s essential to note that an Audi version of the ninth-generation Golf seems unlikely. The electric-only Golf, developed in collaboration with Rivian and based on the SSP architecture, won’t see the light of day until the end of the decade. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Group continues to leverage its MEB architecture for various models, including the ID.3 and future ID.1.
