The Cybertruck’s unmistakable aesthetic sets it apart from anything else on the market. Its ultra-modern, angular structure makes it a standout in the EV truck segment, capturing attention wherever it goes.
Beyond its striking appearance, the engineering advancements are impressive. A near-silent cabin, smooth handling, and lightning-fast acceleration define the driving experience. Tesla’s groundbreaking 48-volt electrical system powers the industry’s first true steer-by-wire technology—eliminating mechanical links between the steering yoke and wheels. This innovation, coupled with rear-wheel steering, makes trailer maneuvering easier than ever, eliminating the traditional struggle of reversing with a camper.

Functionality Meets High Performance
Tesla designed the Cybertruck to be more than just a statement—it’s built to perform. The deep cargo bed is the largest among electric pickups, easily accommodating payloads with the tailgate and tonneau cover closed. Its towing capability is equally impressive, with digital director Erik Johnson noting, “It tows so effortlessly, you barely notice anything behind you.”

How Safe Is the Cybertruck?

Innovative, Yet Not Without Flaws
An uncompromising design often leads to unexpected trade-offs. Despite its stainless steel body, fingerprints and smudges accumulate quickly, and the lack of traditional door handles forces users to grip the edges to open the doors after unlocking them via interior buttons.
Car washes present another challenge. A deep-dive into the touchscreen is required to activate “car wash mode” before manually enabling neutral. However, even with these precautions, the wash won’t clear the stainless steel’s foggy appearance but may flood the front trunk—Tesla admits the frunk isn’t a “dry area.”
Charging presents another headache. Tesla’s own CCS adapter for the Cybertruck only fits after removing surrounding fender trim. Meanwhile, the power tonneau cover, while convenient, exerts excessive force when closing—enough to crush fingers—and completely blocks rear visibility when shut.
Driver visibility is further compromised by thick pillars and an oversized single wiper that senior editor Jason Gonderman compared to “a flailing novelty toy.” Additionally, Tesla’s unfinished Full Self-Driving (FSD) software struggles in real-world testing, failing to disengage on unmarked dirt roads while unpredictably shutting off in the middle of roundabouts—hardly reassuring for hands-free driving.
